Why construction companies hesitate to switch

Most site supervisors know paper FLHAs are a problem. The reasons they haven't switched yet usually come down to three concerns: they don't want to deal with a complicated implementation, they worry their older workers won't adopt a new system, and they're not sure what to do with years of paper records.

All three concerns are valid — and all three are solvable, faster than most people expect.

Step 1 — Choose a system built for field adoption, not office use

The biggest mistake construction companies make when going digital is choosing a platform designed for safety managers, not construction workers. A system that requires workers to download an app, create an account, and navigate a complex interface will fail. Adoption will be low, supervisors will still be chasing people down, and you'll end up with two parallel systems: the digital one you're paying for and the paper forms workers still prefer.

The right system requires nothing from the worker except a phone camera. Scan a QR code. Fill in the form. Submit. Done.

Step 2 — Set up your company profile (10 minutes)

With TrueCOR Safety, the setup process takes about 10 minutes:

  1. Create your company account at truecorsafety.com
  2. Select your primary trade — hazards are pre-loaded for your industry
  3. Add your active job sites by name
  4. Receive your QR code by email

That's the entire setup. No IT support, no implementation project, no consultant required.

Step 3 — Post your QR code and brief your crew (5 minutes)

Print the QR code and post it at your site entrance — laminate it for weatherproofing. Tell your crew one thing: "Scan this every morning before you start." That's the complete worker training.

The form is designed to be self-explanatory. A worker who has never seen TrueCOR Safety before can complete their first FLHA in under 90 seconds with no instruction.

Step 4 — What to do with your paper records

Your existing paper FLHA records have legal retention requirements. Keep them as-is — either physically or scan and archive them digitally. You do not need to re-enter them into your new system. Your digital record starts from your go-live date, and your paper records cover the period before that.

For COR audit purposes, auditors understand and accept the transition date. What matters is that both sets of records are accessible and complete.

What to expect in the first week

In the first few days, some workers will forget to scan. This is normal. The supervisor dashboard makes it immediately visible who has and hasn't submitted that morning — so the reminder is a specific name, not a general chase. By the end of the first week, most crews have the habit established.

The "Confirm All" button in the supervisor dashboard means that even on a busy morning, confirming the whole crew takes one tap instead of reviewing 18 individual forms.

Typical Outcome

Most TrueCOR Safety customers report full crew adoption within 3–5 days. The morning FLHA process goes from 30–45 minutes of chasing to under 5 minutes of dashboard review.
